A Vacation With A Conscience

Responsible River Travel / Far And Away Adventures

On the river, Far and Away is distinct with the organic and sustainable foods offered in its cuisine. Foods are natural, fresh and local when possible.

Consideration to sustainability is evident with Idaho’s Snake River Farms Kobe Wagyu Beef, Kurobuta Pork and local lamb. For seafood served, Monterey Bay Aquarium Foundation Seafood Watch Program is how we partner a role in protecting the health of the oceans. These are a just a few of the products you’ll enjoy on our path to support local farmers and sustainable agriculture.

Inherent to wilderness adventure, the activity itself is carbon neutral.  Through Sustainable Travel International, Far and Away includes a carbon offset payment on the customers behalf, estimated by the distance traveled from Sun Valley to and from the river. Far and Away chooses to have its river operations within a 200-mile radius of its base camp in Sun Valley, Idaho, creating a footprint that is relatively small within the industry.

From a volun-tourism component, we engage our guests in an invasive weed recognition and eradication program. It’s an opportunity to assist the Forest Service in eliminating insidious plants that have no natural predator and will proliferate if not addressed
