The Far and Away Difference

Far and Away Adventures does one river at a time and we do it very well.

This is how we distinguish Far and Away Adventures from other outfitters… we stand alone in many aspects.

Below is what impacts the experience:

  • While other companies offer only one paddle boat, Far and Away offers a full flotilla of paddle boats, inflatable kayaks, oar boats for fishing and a historic lounge sweep boat for passengers, complete with beer on tap and wine cellar. You ride on uncluttered rafts free of camping gear making them light and bouncy and maneuverable. Beautiful African Mahogany drift boats are available for charter.
  • Yoga instructors on every trip.
  • Fun-filled activities for the kids.
  • Walk-in 100 square foot tents with elevated beds, complete full-sized flannel bedding including pillows, nightstand, lantern, and carpet under foot.
  • Tents can adjoin so the family can be together.
  • A more civilized camp with little acclimation to sleeping outdoors ~ you are not on the ground.
  • Menu prepared and inspected in a commercial kitchen that is health department approved. We’re proud of this rare offering to insure our guests of the highest quality control.
  • Menu variations to accommodate vegetarians and vegans.
  • Designed a kids’ menu so everyone is happy at the dinner table.
  • We shop from numerous providers to ensure the highest quality in food products simply not possible in Stanley and Salmon, Idaho.
  • We “style” our plates on heated stoneware.  Four course meals are served and bussed.
  • Hot, prepared lunches such as Kobe beef sliders, pulled pork and gyro accompanied with fresh salads and fruits
  • Microbrew on tap and glass stemware for wine served with dinner
  • Warm washcloths delivered to your tent in the morning, along with fresh hot coffee, tea, and cocoa.
  • Hot showers are offered every evening.
  • Far and Away Adventures outfitter is the authentic, original founder.  Steve Lentz has over 50 years of experience on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River and the equivalent of having more than two trips around the equator on the Middle Fork of the Salmon.
  • Far and Away employs a “homegrown” crew of experienced river guides, some who have been on the rivers since the 1970’s with elevated rescue and medical skills. All guides speak in depth on topics pertinent to the area, and many have musical talent to enjoy around the evening campfire. Incredibly talented musicians (if you weren’t on the river, you would pay a cover!).
  • A can-do crew…not a canned adventure. Far and Away has more demand and runs more trips than any other outfitter on the Middle Fork Salmon.
  • Our approach to your vacation stands alone and is well received and written about… both nationally and internationally.
